Often, a strategic management mechanism is present in a company in an explicit or implicit form. More often than not, it is able to handle required tasks. However, it is seldom possible to assess exactly how efficient strategic management is and whether it really helps the company.
A strategic assessment helps to objectively characterize a situation with strategic management in a company, clearly see the gaps and shortcomings in this defining business area, and provides benchmarks comparable with other companies as well.
Strategic management assessment raises a number of questions:
- Does the company have all the necessary tools for this? Is their suite complete?
- How well do such tools work? Are there no mistakes?
- Is strategic management sufficiently integrated into daily activities?
- Are the strategic management tools sufficiently developed? Aren’t they a bottleneck?
- To what extent is the operating activity consistent with and subordinate to the strategic goals?
