A successfully developing construction and installation contractor with more than 15 years of history, focused on a small segment with the highest customer requirements, has faced a slowdown in growth.
As a leader in the segment, the general slowdown in the economy as a whole and in the industry in particular has created new challenges for a steadily growing business. One of the shareholders’ goals was to bring the company to the international level. To achieve this goal, it was necessary, among other things, to solve the task of developing a business strategy. The shareholders also planned to transfer some managerial authority to the management and use the strategy as a tool for this purpose.
During the project, the external and internal environment was analyzed, which allowed to identify potential growth points. A macroeconomic analysis of the industry on a global scale was also carried out, which allowed us to identify trends and formulate uncertainties that affect business in the long term. The analysis was used to build scenarios for the development of the situation and identify strategic challenges for business at a new level.
Based on key competencies, industry development trends, strategic goals and initiatives were formulated, and a strategy for achieving goals was found. Based on the formulated strategy, future representations (regional and international) were structurally determined and the structure of the company in the dynamics of ten years was simulated. For each representative office (branch) requirements were formulated based on the business strategy.
A five-year business strategy was found and formulated. The strategy was approved by shareholders and adopted by management as the basis for long-term development. An additionally developed strategy mobilized the company’s management to generate innovative ideas for existing and related businesses, which laid the foundation for future potential growth.

The project caveats and challenges:
- The client’s business is project-based. On the horizon of more than 2.5-3 years, there was no way to even guess which projects would be initiated and by which client. Creating a model on a long horizon was a real challenge.
- In addition, the company had a very patchy and contradictory chaotic view of its competitors, which significantly complicated not only the development of a business strategy, but also the coordination of business development paths.
